Myth + Magic
The Oracle Prescribes Rest
It’s 3 PM on a Tuesday. Back home, your inbox is multiplying.
Here, you’re floating on your back in the Aegean, the water so clear you can see your toes. The only thing left on your schedule is a nap on a pile of bolsters before sunset.
You asked the oracle what you need.
She answered in one word: rest.
Myth + Magic is seven nights of restorative yoga, yoga nidra, ritual and salt water on Amorgos, the wild, ancient edge of the Greek islands. A restorative yoga retreat in Greece for anyone who has been holding it all together. You go home refreshed, renewed, and a little bit glowing.
Led by Shelley Carroll + Lisa Rolf
The prophecy
The Oracle Prescribes Rest
The ancient Greeks sailed across the sea to ask their oracles about love, war and fate. Amorgos had an oracle spring of its own, said to show the future.
This summer, the prophecy is simple:
- Restorative yoga in the afternoons
- Yoga nidra as the sun goes down
- A new moon ritual under a sky full of stars
- Salt water, deep sleep, and an island that has been slowing people down for 5,000 years
Your 7 nights on Amorgos
The Itinerary
A few sunrise flows. A lot of glorious rest.
Day 1
Arrive + Exhale
Ferry into the bay, where we greet you at the port. Opening circle, a gentle restorative practice and a welcome dinner.
Day 2
Consult the Oracle
Sunrise vinyasa by the sea, beach and spa time, then an evening of yoga nidra to drop the travel out of your body.
Day 3
Into the Blue
Our snorkeling expedition in crystal-clear water, an afternoon float, and a nap (strongly encouraged).
Day 4
New Moon Night
A slow beach day, then a new moon ritual setting intentions for the home you’re returning to.
Day 5
Kitchen Magic
Sunrise flow, a hands-on Greek cooking class, free time for your massage, and sunset yoga nidra.
Day 6
The Prescription
Our most spacious day: beach, float, spa, repeat. Long-hold restorative and a candlelit evening ritual.
Day 7
Bring It Home
A final flow, a closing ritual to carry the rest home with you, and a celebration dinner over the bay.
Day 8
Go Home Glowing
Breakfast, goodbyes, and ferries toward Athens or the islands.
The order may shift with weather and sea conditions. Your final schedule arrives before departure.

Shelley + Lisa
Lisa and I built this retreat for everyone who has been holding it all together. Since founding Dancing Dogs Yoga in 2010, I’ve led retreats and teacher trainings on six continents, and this is the slowest, softest one we’ve ever made.
Together we hold the space, so you can finally put everything down.

Good questions
FAQ
Is this a relaxing retreat or an active one?
Relaxing, on purpose. There are a few energizing sunrise vinyasa flows and an optional snorkel. Everything else is built around rest: restorative yoga, yoga nidra, beach time, spa time and floating in the Aegean.
Do I need yoga experience?
Zero. Restorative yoga and yoga nidra are practiced lying down, fully supported by bolsters and blankets. If you can get comfortable on a pile of pillows, you’re qualified. Mats and props are provided.
Can I come solo?
Absolutely. Many of our guests come solo and leave with lifelong friends. If you book a shared room, we’ll match you with a roommate. If we can’t find you a match, you keep your shared-room price.
How do I get to Amorgos?
Amorgos is reached by ferry. Most guests fly into Athens (ATH) and take a morning ferry from Piraeus, so plan to arrive in Athens by June 30. You can also fly into Santorini, Naxos or Mykonos for more ferry options. Ferries dock at Katapola or Aegiali, and Aegiali is closest to the hotel. We’ll greet you when you arrive.
What are the rooms like?
Every room comes with a view, and a few suites are next-level. You can see the room options, prices and live availability in the booking section on this page.
What’s the cancellation policy?
A deposit holds your spot. All deposits and payments are non-refundable. Refunds are issued only if DDY Travels cancels the retreat, or if you cancel within the refund window and your spot is filled from the waitlist. Travel insurance is required, and we strongly recommend Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) coverage.
What should I pack?
Two swimsuits, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, comfortable sandals for village paths, a light layer for breezy evenings, and something cozy for yoga nidra. Early July on Amorgos is sunny and warm.
I have dietary needs. Will I be fed well?
Yes. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free are easy here. Tell us on your travel form after you book.
